All Deluxes were remote shift, with no synchro on 1st gear.
The Mini K in 1969 got the 4 synchro remote box.

Best way to find out is to rev the crap out of it and drop the clutch. If a large section of aluminum drops out from under car.....it's remote change. :lol:

Just look on the ground under the car, if there is a pool of oil it is a rod change.

ah, yes, built in rust proofing. Probably safer than the sandwich plate falling in half and the remote pitching into the hotmix. :lol:

The best sandwich plate is one that's been de-rubbered and welded up. 8)

You can tell a person that has a remote change model, he'll be the one that is franticly trying to select reverse whilst half way through 3 point turn in a busy street.

The only good sandwich plates are the ones that don't have oil leaking on them destroying the rubber. Knowing how to drive has a big effect on them too.

My one is still pretty good, it was on the car when I bought it in 1998.
Back in the 80s I could kill one in a month!

The thing that kills rubber real quick is oil. Unless it's Chinese made rubber, then just air will kill it.

I'll bite...what's a sandwich plate??? I only allow the best olive oil near my lunch and i'm sure it doesn't hurt the plate....

We're not discussing 1100s are we?

Cheers, Ian

yes it`s a Morris 1100 thing,,, only becomes a mini thing when someone takes the Morris 1100 motor out of it`s morris 1100 & attempts to fit it to a mini

i think i have a new one here :-) (sand->witch) plate that is :-)

Attempts is correct, you can put a mini motor in a morris 1100 but a morris 1100 won't go in mini, (without panel beating or cutting)

The real question is..."are the rear diff casing from a Mini and 1100 the same? ie can you redrill an 1100 casing to suit a Mini remote shift??

Cheers, Ian
