Does your car have any of the usual identifiers that its first owner was NSW Police?

as far as im aware it was a vic car
i know its history from about 79 onwards
may explain why it was first regoed in vic in 1972 though,
has sat dormant since 86,so want to get it back on the road sypathically

will have to try and find the identifiers you allude to

It was common for new car dealers to put their numbers on cars, my `Matic had a dealer sticker on the fresh air heater, with an ID number on it.
I took it off when I repainted the heater.

Possibly a government car ID plate, or even a commercial business ID plate. A lot of companies and government depts have some type of serial number on all assets.
Thats my best guess.

Pretty sure it's a dealer ID number.

Dealers wouldn't get away with drilling holes in your car without your permission these days. !

If you have a look here on the p76 website
http://www.leylandp76.com/technical/tec ... paint.html
3rd last picture has the same plate. Leyland Agent fitted plate for identification.

It was from down south. I can't remember where.
