Does anyone know what a Lucas 29D AYH0580 62941103A was originally fitted to?
Very similar to the MK2 S Pt No AYG0175.

Edit. The 62941103A distributor is listed as a Morris 1500 "S" distributor - Photos for future reference

If you don't get an answer by the weekend post again or send me a PM. When I get home I'll have a look in the Lucas Australia parts book that lists such things.

AYH0580 is the BMC part number. The other number of relevance that can help identify it is the Lucas part number - 62941103A.

Its been about the going price for the 29D non-vac for a few years now. Often up around 150 unless you're lucky.

The 29d was used on a few other non-BMC british cars at the time, I'll be surprised if the caps dry up for good. If you know the other cars, then you can broaden the search terms as well. They were on the Ford Escort and Cortina of the time, I'm not sure of any others. There's been a few items around that have gone NLA before becoming available again once critical mass has been reached with demand, so with the fords needing them as well it may be just a matter of time. Grab a spare if you find one!

You'll see that one was originally a vacuum advance model 29D that's had the mechanism removed, so not really suitable for someone wanting originality.

So being a 3/69 would this be a very early Mk2 S dissy?
All the other MK2 S distributors I have seen are marked AYG0175 62941090A and built in 1970.

I don't recognise AYH0580 as a Cooper S distributor but can't confirm until the weekend. My guess, given it's dated 3/69, is it's from a Morris 1500, or Marina TC, or maybe a Kimberley. The AYH stamping means it is at least a BMC vehicle (29D's were fitted to other make vehicles).

The later SPO41 (Police Specification) Cooper S's were fitted with 29D4 AYG 0272, virtually the same as AYG0175 but different weights, springs and points.
