Easy solutions...

Right front wheel bearings blew out at 105 km/h on the Gore Highway...replaced bearings and CV but...only had a 12" long spanner. Largish male jumping on the outboard end of the spanner provided sufficient torque.

One of a friend's carbs started to puke fuel on the interstate in California. Popped open the fuel bowl - float was OK, took some 1200 grit wet dry paper to the tip of the float needle, problem solved.

Another running mate lost a head gasket and cracked the block between #3 & #4 after crossing the Mojave Desert in California. Fortunately the block had been sleeved back to standard and the liners were OK. Got a GM pickup truck heater core out front in the airflow in addition to radiator & heater (so max coolant volume). Left at 3 a.m. to recross the Mojave Desert before the heat began to build. Got 3,000 kms to home without incident...only to discover on rebuilding the engine that the head had also been cracked between #3 & #4 and between intake & exhaust in #4.

NO ONE can say ensuring enough cooling is unnecessary.

Had same extra heater core plumbed into ROO for the One Lap. ROO was fine crossing the Kimberley at 46 C...the wife had a wet towel over her head - enough cooling for the conditions is what is needed!

as a younger fella me and 3 mates out in my first mini doing as 17yr olds do, reverse burnouts hand brake turns and just generally thrashing around over heated the motor to a point where it grabbed a piston and wouldnt turn over at all... being some 20 km from home in an area we where not meant to be in ( private access road ) we didnt dare call any off our parents to come and rescue us so we pushed it out to the main rd once there realised how eay it was to push so pushed it at a steady jog all the way home... police were not too impressed but let us go.

funny thing was 2 days later i thought i would try to start it. fired right up no longer blew smoke and had more power... now thats a re bore

I had no spark, so had to bypass the ballast resistor.
