No not really. Its just the potential. You can find videos online of them touching 150mph. They are very capable. LiPo is definitely the better choice for racing, i just said it might be restricted for certain classes, i don't race them so i wouldn't know. Depending on the quality, they can cost alot more, depending on the type of lipo you buy and the capacity. I meant don't underestimate them. 4S might not sound very intimidating but it is one hell of a punch.

Seems like you have got some good prices for all of this though. As i said i managed to save some on my kit and i didn't have to buy a charger so, even with my brushless conversion, i spent $370 not including the 60 or so on paint.

So the kit says to use ceramic grease when assembling the kit, but tamiya have discontinued it. I see they now sell cera gease, but I can't find a shop that stocks it. Any advice?

Did the kit not come with a small tube of grease? You use that for everything in the kit and believe it or not, you don't even need that much.

you are right, on closer inspection I found the tube of grease.

I have started building the kit, and will hopefully have it ready for next weekend.

Haha the only downside i found is that i would have liked an enclosed diff instead of the housing being part of the chassis. That said, i think that's just me being an offroad guy.

Well, it's just about done besides paint and I can already see why it's common to replace shocksa ns steering.

Overall I am impressed, but need to buy a battery before I am able to really test it.

It was great fun to build.

It sure is fun to build! I agree, i haven't bought on road shocks because i am converting it to off road. My power is way too much for the standard friction suspension so i can't even drive it on road right now.

I put it through its paces this afternoon at my parents house. It was great. Then I let my dad have a go and he crashed it and broke the servo arm (it wasn't the Tamiya one because it wouldn't fit the hitec servo). It was an easy fix though. The motor is plenty fast enough for me at this stage, but I really need to upgrade the shocks. Tomorrow I will take it to the local track and see how I go.

Did anyone happen to save the stuff from http://www.rc-mini.net/joomla/index.php ???
I thought I did, but I was wrong and now its gone.

The stock friction shocks peter. They are terrible, the only part of suspension in them is the spring, they aren't oil filled, let alone threaded and are EXTREMELY bad quality for what they are.

Today I took it to the track. Lots of fun, but the motor is a bit slow.

I had to stop when one of the shocks fell apart. The collar/pin that holds it together popped off and I couldn't find it anywhere? Can anyone recommend where to find one at short notice?

Ryan
