I am not a fan of cogged belts. Find a vee one.

Fingers crossed it sorts your problem.

Where do you buy these vee type belts from? Are there specialised mini ones? And they'll fit on my pulleys?

Grab a gates brand size 825 belt from repco. I changed mine about 400km. No probs with stretching.

I think it's either gonna be adjustment moving of poor quality belt stretching.. Different section pullies won't cause it to loosen off. Sequel yes also poor alignment will cause squealing.

Ergh, just the thought of changing the belt isn't making me jump for joy by any means.

I think you're right, if it is indeed moving I don't know why when I have all the correct brackets/bolts/nuts and they're done up very snuggly

The belt is definitely aligned correctly though, I know that for sure

Yah when I changed mine I did coolant and pulled the radiator out and gave it a flush as well I know the pain just to change the belt. Mark all the bolts and position on the adjustment and see next time you drive it if it moves. If there not nylock bolts could be coming loose. The best will stop stretching at some point. Haha

Find an industrial belt supplier. Yellow pages is a good start. Its important to take the pulley and belt with you so they can measure the profile correctly. I have had issues with supercheap and repco belts being to thin in there cross section.

Wow, I really didn't know that finding the right belt was that complicated! Well, not complicated I guess but I thought it was a matter of buying a 'mini fan belt' and bob's your uncle haha

Hi

Unfortunately I don't have much of an update. I haven't got to buy a new belt yet - I took the car for a spin the other evening and even though the belt is tight it still squealed a little when powering up in first gear. I dunno if that attributes to it being really really cold outside or whether the pulley on the alternator isn't turning freely enough... bearings?? If it is not spinning freely enough is there a way of lubricating?

That same night I discovered a pin hole leak in my newly fitted contessas so that's kinda taken priority at the moment
