Attempting to fit front shocks to a mates mini k tomorrow.
It doesn't have the top shock brackets at the front.
How do we go about fitting these?
I tried the search and nothing came up for me!
Any help is appreciated.

I think it took me maybe 1/2 an hour once all the bits I needed were found.

Before fitting the top shock brackets, use a 1/4 -28 UNF tap to clean the paint and crap out of the 8 mounting holes in the body.

additional question, what are the best type of dampers to fit with hydro? do the same rules apply for dry suspension?

This is one opportunity where it pays to not spend a lot of money on the shocks.

The hydro has its own damping built into the hydrolastic dampers and system, and is only supported by the shocks. The main aim is to get the porpoising under control, so you don't need much.

I have adjustable SPAX on my red car, and they have only ever been up to the second setting from lowest. Any more and it gets a little too stiff in the front end for the road (imho).

A pair of stock shocks will do the job just fine.

I've run a set of Pedders (same as Gabriel reds I think) on mine for the last 15+ years. They are still good.
As Mick says good brand stock shocks are fine, IMO there's no need for adjustables.
