Sigh, it would have been quite nice if it were true...

Clubman SS with 1275cc, twin SU, disc brakes, bumpy Contessas, no flares and long range tank...
1275 LS didn't seem (to me) be the sporty type despite having the the 1275 and discs with the single carb.

Clubman GT?

BMW can sell you a Clubman fronted Cooper S, but curiously without the BMW badges. They aren't Australian built, but if you ask nicely you might be able to get an Austrian one.

Yeah, but as has been seen by years of 1300 block use, there was no need for the exotica really of the Cooper S and GT I feel.
A 1300 block with a warm(er) camshaft, twin SUs (ignoring for the moment well manifolded HS4 and HS6...) and discs would have been nice. I also loved the Blue they used on the SS as well as the trim and stripes.

Political and economic realities gazumped anything the designers might have wanted in any case, so I'm just dreaming.

So they got the actual model name wrong...

The Clubman GT was a square fronted S - at least for around the first 800 that came with 9FXEY engines and 7.5 discs etc

Cheers, Ian
