And re-made as Rovers until 2000. ;)

If you are talking about England they never stopped making round nose Minis between 1959 and 2000. So they were not re-made at all.

In Australia they stopped making round nose Minis in 1971.

Thanks all for the replies

Some of you guys are making me think this is going to cost me an absolute fortune :(

The aim before was to buy a body and go from there
But I'm thinking maybe what I should be buying is something that is all there or at least most there then strip it down restore it back up.
This in theory should then give me a much better idea on how much it will cost me than if I was to buy a body and buy parts after parts after parts which will rack up the bill quickly.

I do prefer to buy something and restore it rather than turn key drive away.
The whole point of this exercise is for me to learn a few things and enjoy the process of restoring it.

My first restore was like this, I started with a shell and went at it from there. Its a really tough way of doing things as you need to buy everything one at a time, and there's always an overhead on the individual parts (As well as postage).

Much better option to get a near complete car, unless you are really patient or have something very customised in mind.

Restoring any car can be an endless money pit if you let it, how much you choose to spend on the restoration can be largely set up front by yourself. Note I do say largely set up front by yourself as there can always be some variables that can get in the way

If you want to say spend 5k on a running car and say 2-3k more fixing a few things up that is one way many get into mini's, you could get a 1k project and spent 10k finishing off someone else's task, the options really are endless but there is a mini out there for almost everyone budget so don't be scared off by some of us who have the mini fever and get in a little deep (yes I am talking about those who have there own car fleets  ) but once you get your first mini and it is on the road find the nearest windy road and you will be all    and the $$ will be forgotten 8)
