Hey guys, just a few questions i need answered
1) what you have all used to replace the hesian crap in the engine bay and on the firewall inside.
2) My alternator light staays on when the key is not in the barrel thingy it also stays on when the key is in the off position im not sure about when its running, keep forgetting to check. but its not on when the key is in the Acc position i think thats what its called. how do i check if my alternator is working?
3) I need some ideas on the interior of my car, nothing too hard as i am plannining to do it all myself. And some dash plans would be helpful please send any pics to [email protected]
Thankks Guys 8)

[Edit:] The rear window sills are rusted and are leaky, what can i use to Fix it after i treat the rust?

Q1-
I took the firewall felt and binned it, then made a metal cover for the speedo hole and screwed it on with some aluminized foam noise reduction stuff stuck on it..
Not sure what it's called, it's used for noise insulation in big power boats etc.
Very similar to what they stick under bonnets of some modern cars.
I scored it off my neighbour..

the exact same thing happens with my car, with a generator or an alternator.
this DRAINS the battery.
everyone suggested i go to an autotech but i cant be bothered
i have a switch on the battery that i have to turn off b4 i leave the car.
it also acts as an immobiliser.

when you turn off the battery, it disengages something in the regulator which turns off the "alt." and "oil" light.

when you rev up the car, the "alt" light turns off which means the battery is now being charged.

to check if your alternator is still working, just run the car, rev it up until the "alt" light turns off (it means the battery is charging) and just keep doing it for a week or so

if youve been doing this for a long time, and the alternator doesnt charge it, then the battery wouldve died a while ago.

i dont know how to fix this, id say you have to look into the regulator/the black box with wireclip on the left side of the engine bay, next to the fuses
ive left it on for about 2hours once, its fine.
its if you leave it overnight - thats tragic

First i would check the major earth Straps are earthed. First the Bat, Second the engine to the Body. Make sure they are all clean and no brakes. Clean, means that you see some metal to metal not just the thread.

I am no expert on the electronic. But as I have proven,I am no expert but in my belief if you rev the engine the Bat will charge slightly but not enought.
Check your earths first and then go to an auto electrision

Hope this work for y all
