Chris,
GR rang me today to discuss it, he reckons that's a good figure, especially considering the head is pretty stocko..

engine specs:

Morris 1100S block
-20 thou over (1293cc now)
-Cooper S pistons
-Kent 266 cam (I resisted the amazing RE13 cos i didnt want a lumpy idle on Elmo)
-Balanced and ligtened
-maniflow LCB's
-Mini sport competition manifold
-single 1"3/4 carby

other than that (unless i forgot something) nothing else. so as you can see, relatively minor mods on the old girl!!!

but absolutely extatic!!! GR was also impressed with the smoothness of the whole thing
as well, I was there when he took it to 6000rpm for the first time, he was once again amazed!!!

JAM, If Elmo is done, ill park him at the back at Gannons, and not put him in (but ive told you a zillion times JAM is far suerior to poor old Elms)

So you are painting it soon? then dropping the motor in? Your trim is easy....it's all done. What carpet are you going to have?

Wow that sounds excellent.

Not meaning to be rude but how much would one have to save before approaching GR for a similar engine build?

yeah, painting soon as this reaking weather gets better for it!!

and yes my interior will be easy to do, then drop motor in...

Carpet ive been thinking about, you cant seem to get the original
type style, but i dont care. i guess it will just be a padstow special.
Im getting to the stage where 100% originality is becomming more
95% its all there just a few bits and bobs arent 100% ridgy didg. but
the advantage is only clubby lover will pick most stuff up, even then
i dont know if they will. so ill just leave as is. i dont have the money to
be going nut bags like i used to!

good qstn mate. Im not sure, silly me has been avoiding asking the question. I think it will be reasonable, though, considering the awesome amount of effort and time he has put in i guess it wont be cheap. but i honestly dont know (lucky i have my savings  ) but as ive said, you pay to know that you get a great engine, good service and a motor that will last. AND have someone who knows what he is doing

Yeah I wouldn't ecpect it would be a budget rebuild. I will be getting my engine rebuilt eventually which already has pretty similar specs to yours so was just interested. I'd hate to go and waste GR time before i've got the cash to do it. I'm definately looking at a quality rebuild for the next one though.

yeah,, id reccomend him.

the only changes id make to my engine if it was going into a different
car would be to use his manifold and put in an RE13.

but i wanted a bit of a quiet engine for Elms. nothing crazy. Im thinking
maybe Lizzies motor may be the go for some of those bits though :D
