Who other than GR sells flat top 1100 pistons. I'm getting my 1275 pistons from GR but can warrant spending the same on a small bore thats all.
This is what I read on GR's small bore article
"Now, you could go out and buy some special flat-top pistons, but part of the point of doing this motor is to save money. If you use the standard 998cc pistons, you can machine off the 0.140” crown, to get flat top pistons much more economically."

That was the reason for my question as 998 pistons are as little as $150 for the set.

Here's a tip-
Fit the gearbox onto the motor, not the other way around.
The box is lighter, and you can see the 2 dowels better to guide it on straight. :)

Cheers, great advise :D

Yes GR said that, however not all 998 pistons are reliable once done. Some are thinner than others. At least check the crown thickness and distance to the top ring, and if you are going to turbo the motor, forget it.
You will also have trouble with these shortened pistons hitting the dizzy driveshaft, you would need to thin it down, or else relieve the bottom of the 998 pistons like 1098 ones are

Minis Plus sell them with rebuild kits for $200 more than the standard set, which isn't too much more, seeing as you'd have to get the others machined, and they might not last as well...

This kit plus $200

Will get you a set of GR pistons in +060 or bigger

Holy cr@p that's a shiny clutch housing :D . Who did the polishing?
I just noticed your flywheel breather, a bit scrappy comparing to the rest of the engine  .

Just spit and polish  nah, it was on my old motor so I've just polished it back up myself with normal cut n polish. A new breather is on it's way from Minisport :D
