Hi guys, I've attached some more photos of the engine bay and of the boot. I have since found a stamp on the chassis just below the plate with the last 3 numbers of the car number matching the stamping. I can't get to under carpet yet (without removing seats), am I able to see the cover from under the car if its on a hoist? Thanks for all the help again!

Just pull down the front carpet from the firewall, lift it over the top of the high beam switch and back. What is needed is an image at the very front of the hump in the center of the front floor.

Ok, the plate matches the stamping, that is a good sign. You said there was nothing stamped on the radiator shroud and that is also a good sign.

Is there a date on the wiper motor? (something like 6 62 or 12 67)
Does it have an electric fuel pump?

I can hear an electric fuel pump in the rear. I'm not home now so I can't confirm if it's genuine or aftermarket.

Or the door latches on the b post you almost got them when you took the drivers side if it's a deluxe body the latch will be recessed and 3 mounting screws in a " triangle " lay out. It should be flat with the 3 mounting screws in a straight line some one could've modded the body so between that and where the 850 gearstick blanking plate should be able to id it for you

There is grey paint in the boot and near the radiator shroud. I'm nearly convinced.

Did the Cooper have the fuel pump breather under the back seat?

There is a car that's just been added to the Mini Cooper Register that I think is close to the delivery date of yours, but I can't be sure as the numbers on your ID plate aren't clear enough in that picture. It's the same colour, Cherry Red and Smoke Grey. If you wish to send me a PM with a clearer picture of the ID plate, or even the stamped data from it in text form I can verify for you.

Well done on acquiring another rare car and helping to preserve its history.

Be aware the wide gap in the centre of the seat pleats mean the seats are probably from a later model Mini. I believe your Cooper should have equally spaced pleats, but I'm happy to be corrected.

That's right. Just had a look at Graham Russell's 'new' Cooper today and noted no ventilated fuel pump hole. Apparently the early Coopers had a different pump with no breather.

P.S. Graham talks about his Cooper near the end of the second page of this thread. You can see his car number and colour combination.

I think the change over may have occurred when there was a heater change
