I am in the last throws of getting the bonnet over the 7 port set up.
Will be fitting articulated hinges with small gas struts
Have had to remove the safety catch bracket. This leaves the spring bracket with no reinforcement (just a right angled plate) which might mean it will bend under the stress from the spring.
It's possible to beef it up with some more metal in another place but my question is will the gas struts provide the up force to replace the spring if I were to leave it off ?
I'll be trying it out anyway, but opinions please?

Minivation hinges? I have had no issues on the "clubman" front with leaving the front spring in, BUT they seem to hold the back of the bonnet up, although it does go down and stay down with a little push.

Yes, the kit from Minivation.
I will try the lift without the spring but leave the pin in place

Update of a super old post, sorry, but a slight adjustment last month of mine according to the new adjustment pdf they put up yielded results, I may need to do a little more but the bonnet is about 3-5mm off on one side, the other is flush.
