Heya, got a problem with my brake rotors I believe. Shudders a bit when applying the brakes. can anyone recommend a place in Melbourne to machine these? I've only put new greenstuffs on about five months ago, I won't have to replace them again will I? Also, I'd prefer to have them machined when on the car if possible as I have no way of removing them myself.

probably cost you more to machine them than buy a new set or rotors,we normally sell both sides for around $60
cheers

Ahh, just checked them out on your website, that's awesome! We're in Melbourne are you located? Can I pick them up sometime next week?

have you checked ball joints, caliper bolts, shaft nuts, tyre pressures and rod ends?

Unfortunately, I'm not very mechanically minded and don't have the facilities to check unfortunately. Tyre pressure fine, will to putting on new rubber in next couple weeks. Had ball joint replacement couple months ago but suspect there is still a problem there as their is sometimes a slight knocking sound sometimes on the left only when going over a speed bump or something

Maybe try using a wire brush to clean the hubs, where it contacts the wheel, and use emery/sand paper to clean the mating surface of the wheels.
Built up rust and dust can cause vibration, that often only occurs under braking, I've fixed two cars where cleaning both parts stopped the "brake shudder"

Nick, I don't have much plans for Saturday other than cleaning the interior after my Tassie trip. You're welcome to head down Bentleigh way and I'd be glad to lend a hand and access to tools if you're free Sat morning. I've also got a brake shop out front the house which is open until 1pm or so, they'll machine the rotors for about $40 if it is needed.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, got some rotors on order and also found the key to my wheels finally. Was left at the mechanic by mistake.

If I re correctly, it was 20 per rotor, but I've only used them for this once, and it may have been mates rates. 20 per rotor sounds like a reasonable price to me though?
