I installed red 1157 LED bulbs in ROO today to replace the 1157 twin filament bulbs. They work well.

Question, why do the upper bulb sockets have twin contacts for offset pin bulbs like the 1157...they are only for turn signals??? (1157 bulbs were in there)

That's h.......s...I'll go out tomorrow (now pitch black with violent storm) if rain abates and see if a "reversing" function appears (none has been reported to me in Australia or North America).

If so, OK. If not, new or reconnected reversing switch.

Was this reversing light an Australian design rule?

do you use a rod change if so should have a switch on the drivers side at the gearstick end
if like my 73 van you have a magic wand there should be a switch mounted on the gearbox

Reverse lamps came out in 1972 as a design rule and should be with the blinkers

Well I can report that the two "reversing lights" (in the rear signal light locations) did indeed come on...my neighbor was working on his Chrysler Minivan and looked while I shifted into & out of reverse gear.

They have always obviously been coming on but no one has ever mentioned them - in Australia or here in Canada where "reversing lights" have always been white in my experience.

My former Mini 1000 had the white "reversing light" under the rear Canadian spec crash bumper. After resto/mods the sedan used the UK MkIV on rear tail light assemblies with integral white "reversing lights".

That Bulb in the indicator is double contact double filament 12 volt 21/21 Watt. not 12v 21/5 watt.

Hi Tony,

The upper sockets are for offset contact pin bulbs and 1157s were in both signal/reversing lamp sockets. I'd not seen them until installing the LED parking/brake lights (also with offset pins as the 1157s that were in the lower sockets).

Will look for 12v 21w/21w bulbs.

Rick

Rick, see if you can find amber/white bulbs, or amber/amber bulbs. I used white ones in my Moke and they were too white, they barely looked yellow at all from behind.
