105deg ATDC, I use that with my belt drive kit- but for duplex chains I use 103-104 deg to allow for chain stretch.

You set up a degree wheel and pointer to show TDC.
Fit a stock cam key to check with.
Then put a dial gauge on the #1 inlet valve cap.
Turn the motor clockwise, full lift should be reached at 105deg AFTER TDC. That shows as [90deg + 15deg more] on my degree wheel.
Count around the scale from TDC.

If using stock duplex sprockets I usually find a 2, a 4 or sometimes 6deg offset key is needed.
When using these keys, fit it with the outer offset `<' compared to the bit in the cam. (this rotates the cam > ie advances it).
Note the keys need slight filing to fit nice, try it in the cam and sprocket before assembly.

[edit]
Don't check on a pushrod with the head off, the lack of tension load on the chain will give you errors.

HI Doc, would that be any different for an RE13PP please?
Out of curiosity, which drive belt?
I got some bad feed back on one version.

@MiniBob,
Not sure about an RE13PP, I'd ring Graham and ask.

Dayco Pirelli have stopped making/selling their belt, and I find the Chinese ones slightly too long = loose when fitted.

I'm running a Gates kevlar one. Good for 50K miles they say.
These are ONLY available from Mini Mania in USA, Gates here seem to know squat about them. I did ask...

See http://www.minimania.com/part/C-AJJ3328 ... evlar-Race

Freight from US is the killer, so bring a few in and sell them to the race guys. 8)

There is another timing belt that fits, according to UK forums. It's a 195LO75, Gates p/number 9257 2222.
But not sold here, I asked that too.
See http://www.royalsupply.com/store/pc/gat ... 8ubFYCSxD4
[edit] I just costed these with freight to Oz.
US$9.50 ea, + freight (FedEx) is US$114.83 {note UPS is over $200.}
Total for 3 off = US$47.77 ea, for 4 off = $38.20 ea. Buy more and it's even cheaper per unit, as they weigh sfa.

Dialed in my cam today. Its a GR'S' and he said 107deg ATDC for that one. I bought a Rollmaster timing chain kit thinking it would be good. Graham left me with the words 'Good luck, better you than me'.
After doing it I wont be buying another one of those again.

On a side note, the reground followers and pushrods turn about 1/4 each lift which is a good start.

Couldnt get it right. Had to walk away for a while and come back to it. Graham told me that they had been made to the spec of the later polution engines which have a different base timing. Pretty sure thats was he said.
I had used rollmaster at work a couple of times on holdens and they were fine so thats why I bought it. Done now.

Last Rollmaster set I fitted I gave up on their `vernier keyways' and used an offset key instead.
If we need to do this, it's lots cheaper to run 2 stock sprockets and an Iwis race chain.

Edit typo

Dialled my cam in today. Got it to104.5 without the head on. I'll check it again with the head in place but 104.5 should be good with the anticipated chain stretch.
GR recommended 105.5. Should I worry about the one degree??
Never did find out what the PP meant.
