Wow, all I can say is I wish I lived in Adelaide. Some enterprising person grab it and fix it up with some computer wizardry so I can buy a copy.

By the look of its condition if it were to be posted in a tube, it would disintegrate to dust.

Digitally restoring it wouldn't be an issue, it's making a digital copy that would be hard. But yeah, looks amazing!

I'd pack it between two sheets of cardboard box and post it flat, then scan it.

I have a copy that's in a slightly better state than that one but still has a few creases and some small tears (see below). I've been investigating how to flatten it so as to remove the creases but haven't decided as yet. A warm iron may help although I'm mindful that the colour may run or be transferred. Once I get it flat I'll take it to Officeworks to get scanned. The thin metal reinforcing strips top and bottom would have to be removed first, of course.

They made a few versions of that chart. Below is one for the Austin Freeway and Wolseley 24/80.

There are also individual wall charts for the various major components of a Mini that were distributed by BMC and Dealers to local trade schools and others for free, that way they sowed the BMC seed in apprentices heads atan early stage in their career. I have most of these - some in poor condition (not surprising given their size and age) but a few in good condition.

With respect, I think you haven't taken into consideration the significant expenditure in time and money by me (and other BMC historians and collectors) to acquire rare items like these. I regularly post items from my library on Ausmini and other forums so others can enjoy them and I use the information from documents such as Technical & Service Bulletins to help answer members questions. Hopefully by mid next year my website (http://www.bmcpublications.com.au) that references BMC & Leyland Australia publications will be live so other enthusiasts can research what's relevant to their particular needs. I'm still mulling over how to make scanned copies of rare material available to others in a way that helps defray my investment and takes account of copyright issues. I'm somewhat concerned that publications I provide freely to others may then appear on eBay or elsewhere.

The preservation of paper is a highly skilled art form.
Back when I had a another business, I would send out precious, crumbling and often quite damaged
paper art, in fact we had a newspaper page that was over 100 years old restored.
They had a process to mount it onto a very fine acid free paper.
The results were without fail stunning. Unfortunately I've long forgotten who did this work but
I'm sure Melbourne would have a good craftsman who could do it.
A museum could point you in the right direction.

Thanks, good suggestion. I'm aware such services exist but haven't researched the who, where and how much.

I'd be happy to pay for a copy of the Morris 850 schematic if you are able to make them. Might help reduce the cost of accumulating and storing the originals. Surely others would too? Would copyright still be an issue given Morris is no more?

Perhaps a discreet disclaimer at the bottom acknowledging it is a copy would protect the value of the original.

That's what I'm hoping to do. I probably didn't make that clear enough in my last post. I'd like other enthusiasts to share in the knowledge in the library. I certainly don't want to hide it away and gloat. I thought my website would be up by now but other priorities have intervened. The plan is to list as many of the documents and publications produced by BMC and Leyland in Australia as I can. They won't all be full downloadable copies but there will be enough information about each document to enable readers to know what they should be looking for. Compiling a full set of scanned Technical & Service Bulletins I'm sure would be of interest to many, and probably a lot of the other material. First I need to understand the legal implications in doing so, and also be mindful of other collectors whose library value may diminish as a result since the originals would reduce in value.

And I think I may have mis-interpreted what you were suggesting at the outset. I thought you were asking for a scan of my chart that you would then compile and produce for others, when you probably meant doing it to the one in Adelaide. Of course anyone is free to do the latter and I can see it being of benefit. My apologies if I drifted onto the wrong path.

Unfortunately there are many who "hide it away and gloat" and that sucks. Apart from a loss of 'gloat points' I can't see how suitably watermarked copies on a web site could deminish the value of an original. Is a real Cooper S less valuable because someone has a Deluxe painted in two tones and with twin tanks? How is hiding away those tech bulletins achieving anything other than the fuelling the type of destructive GR vs 850man arguments that are the death of forums like this?
