I think "because you can" is a reasonable excuse.

A few years ago I met a guy in Chicago who had a Minivan... Weeeelll.. it was a Mini van body, cut around the lower edge. He then mounted the shell on a custom made frame and suspension (his company made Indy car chassis) with a Chev V6.

Why?? .. he said he enjoyed p%*&*g of Porsche drivers. Although, he did note that he needed to do a little more work as the car tended to get a little twitchy over 120 mph...
