A bit more on evans.

Quote:
Non-Toxic

Evans Waterless Coolants contain our patented DeTox™ formulation and has been classified as Non-Toxic by an EPA certified laboratory. However as with all chemicals, do not consume. Keep away from children. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Rinse hands and eyes with water after incidental contact.

i think this adds up to it being an NPG (glycol) component after all, just with a detox.

Going round in circles. I'll wait and see if I can get an MSDS.

The main thing I guess is does it work.

At the end of the day Liquid Intelligence and Evans may be essentially the same product but Evans has this Detox thing to make it non poisonous.

If we ignore toxicity for a minute it is the performance we are after.

I'll price the LI and see how I go.

Cheerio.

Whether Evans is indeed Glycol based or not... Another thing to maybe consider is the longevity of a coolant. Water based coolants such as green coolant have a life expectancy of about 2-3 years (maybe, if you're lucky).

Evans claim that the one bottle of their coolant will last '4LIFE' and will last the entire life of the engine. Water based coolants are still toxic and need replacing frequently. So even if Glycol itself is more toxic it may still be a good option if it's not needing to be disposed of as frequently, if at all.

Just food for thought.

Cheers
James

Mini Mania have a useful article on their website. The implication is water is a more effective coolant than glycol. It talks about breaking down waters surface tension properties. Whose heard of Redline's Water Wetter?
some interesting reading...

Very interesting read, especially the bit about the electric water pumps - Anyone on here done that particular conversion?

if Glycol itself is more toxic
who drinks glycol anyway?

Young kids who like green cordial and dogs who lick up spills.

Not a common occurrence but a concern for parents and pet owners.
