Hi all,
I am lucky enough to be the new owner of a 2/72 GT, its a very original & unmolested car with a 1200 engine number. It does need a good resto......so before I begin i would like to find any info on the car. Its original reg is IGL 476 vic. Car has been dry stored since 1988. It is space blue with kidskin interior , is this a common colour for a GT? Any info on this car would be greatly appreciated.

I think they were a delete option, so the customer could ask for no stripes. The police GT's were ordered without stripes also.

Nice buy, any more pics or details.

Of my 3 GT's

* Bold as Brass 11/72 GT- no strips
* Turquiose 12/71 GT - Brack stripes
* Space Blue 8/71 (I think) Ex police No stripes

Not all colours came came with stripes (but if the owner wanted them I cant see why they would have refused).

I think some came standard with stripes and others didnt. Have also heard they were a dealer thing too.

I think the earlier explanaton is better.

Love to see some more pics, any specific questions just ask away

Bubba

Yes should be the same style as a MK2 cooper S, with the corner cut off. These are very difficult to come by now-days and bring a good bit of money.

Good for you the GT ones were a little thinner than the MK2 s ones, So checkout ebay UK for one as these are thinner than the aussie mk2 ones. And do come up from time to time unlike the aussie ones

Quite a bit thinner, about 6mm.

This photo has an A256 (std Australian 850, 1000, and Cooper and S twin SU filter) in the later thin UK style filter case.
