Hi All,
Finally got the project motor on the dyno.

Image

This is a 68mm bore 1100 motor with my new 266SS cam, and my new Downdraft IDF Weber and Manifold. The Cylinder head on this engine is a 202 head with 1.26" inlets and 1.07" exhausts. Other than cutting the seats using my radius seat cutter and relieving the chambers, the head is std. No grinding the ports or under the valves.

In Further testing, I'll grind the exhausts out and do the dyno readout again, then I'll do the inlets and do it all again to show the differences.

I am surprised with the way this new Cam works, this is a totally new 266 type grind and with a combination of the Carb, Manifold and Cam, it has come up with some amazing results. who needs a 1275.

I love small bores

All of this will all happen on my website, when Aaron types it up and show the entire build, including modifications to the block and head.

---------------------------------------

Here is a video showing how the followers and push rods should turn with they are ground correctly. The video is at about 1800 revs :D

PS: Thanks Aaron, for putting it on the dyno for me.

Nice one Graham!

Will be interesting to see the figures change as you "improve the head".

That cam works well with that combination.
When you say a new 266SS cam, have you kept the Kent 266 original duration / LCA, and played with the opening and closing ramps?

Cheers Shane

Hi Shane
The opening and closing ramps on the kent cam are old style ramps mine are totally different, the duration is 2 deg different to kent cam but the duration at .050 100 .150 .200 .250 are way different and the nose radius is a lot bigger, so once you get it open it's open for a whole lot longer.

One thing that the dyno graph does not show is that at 1500rpm it would hold full throttle and made 55ft lb of torque which is staggering for a motor like that, I have not had any motor on the dyno that would hold full throttle at that rpm, but I am not sure what it is that is allowing it to do that, whether it's the manifold or the small ports or just the whole combination, not even a std motor 1275 or small bore will do that.

What hp do you think that will equate to at the wheels?

Hi Tk
Don't even want to go there, there are so many variables in both cars and dynos, the drive on dyno we use here has been changed and the readings are up about 15HP with the same car and not sure why that's why I like engine dynos.

30% less, I believe (as a guestimation) although some say 20% power loss.

Hi Kennomini
So does this mean a car making 90hp will loose about 30hp and a car making 900hp will loose about 300hp I think may be not.

Hi Graham,

Impressive motor , I love the 1100 too :) . How come you have used the maniflow headers over your superpipes?

Torque figures are insane and near peak torques from 3500

Hi Ben
People can relate to the maniflow pipes, and they are heaps cheaper than mine but I will try my pipes later I have a few things to try like
su's single and twins, bigger cam the new 274 it's a mean thing slightly smaller than the RE13 but a lot more aggressive, we should try one in your SMALL BORE turbo we should start a trend help stamp out 1275's this could be fun.

Hi Kiwiinwgtn
You will not have to cut holes in your bonnet it fits take the tubes off and no worries, but it would look good with long tubes poking through the top :D.

Hi Graham

They are big numbers so far.
The carb/inlet looks impressive.

As you know we have been building our" SPORTS1100" package for many years with the old 266
& have been using the new 266ss in at least 10 engines in the last few months with
great results- it drives really well down low which is perfect for any road motor.

Look forward to the R & D.

I'm talking about the mini driveline seeing as we are on a mini forum and the question was about a mini engine.
A different make and model of car will obviously have different power drains in it's drive line, you know this so why make the connection between a minis out put and that of another car?
If you don't want to answer the question that's fine, but don't have a go at me for sharing the info I have came across over my time in the mini community.

I don't think graham is having a go he just doesn't like to use figures from wheels dynos. He has had two mini engines make 139 &140hp at the crank and then one be 85hp and the other 100hp at the wheels ??

That's a huge loss and also difference.

Graham, sound good about the cam I need more bottom and midrange I just need to hurry up and finish my motor .
