Hi All,
Can anybody tell me approx how many Mini K's were made.....except for the van K's, And, what would have been the correct paint colour for the engine. Anyone got photos of an original engine bay?
Yes, you may have guessed I have a K I am restoring.
Cheers
Ian

The engine colour on a mini k was gold.

They made about 13000 Mini K's between March 1969 and June 1971.

Engine colour light metallic green. Number built, according to Watto in TME issue 18, about 12,250. I believe Morrie 1100s had gold engines but Mini K engines were green! There was a discussion somewhere here on the actual colour.

Yes I have had an argument with a guy recently about the engine colour. I'd love some hard evidence...........I did mine the cooper S green (Valiant Tiffany Green). It's going to look nice against the Original cadet blue.

Mine is cadet blue too I think, I have a tin of green and gold for the engine from mini king when the time comes. I need to finish my moke resto before I start on the K. Would love to see a pic of yours.

There's several pics of original mini K's in the spotlight on the mini down under, they are all black and white, but the engines look to light to be green, so they must be gold.

Here is my K as of today. I have just spent the last four days on the grille. Last week fitted all the rear end badges and new bumper.

We have had our Mini K from brand new, it is currently sort of buried in the garage so hard to get to, just had a quick look through the grill and under all the grease and grime it appears to be the light green colour,
the motor has never been out of the car, it was still running fine when it was taken off the road as the body needs some rust repairs and a repaint. I will have a better look at it tomorrow. But it looks like green from what I can see.

Unfortunately I can't get to the car to take a photo, it was pushed into the corner of the garage about 5 years ago and a bench has been built over the top of the motor to store stuff, I am storing adult kids furniture for them so it has sort of become hemmed in, so I can't open the bonnet to get a pic. I will try and have a better look tomorrow re the colour of the engine, in my mind I would have said from memory it was the bronze/gold colour but from what I could see through the grill it looked green, but the engine is very dirty, as I said the motor has never been out of the car, so 44 years of grime and grease.

Does any one know how many Burst proof door Mini Ks were produced? They seem to be the rarer ones.

The number of 1971 Mini Ks would be around 2000 to 2500.

The number of 71 mini K's with burst proof handles is around 400.

It is more than 2000 going on the Compliance plate numbers.
They made the the Mini K for a full 6 months in 1971. It wasn't a limited edition, it was the main model.
