Please explain? what more prices do you want? oh pistons $375 a set the rest of the prices would be the same as any mini motor.

I have 1 1275 at home and about 10 1100's. Im considering selling my 1275 to fund the modifications gr is doing.

The reason is i like like to drive my minis hard.

If I destroy a 1275 block well thats it. Another $500 too $1000 plus machining. If I destroy an 1100 block. Oh well build another.

I think what gr is doing is great. 100 hp out of an 1100 is brilliant. Yes initial cost of maching will be more than machining a 1275 but it is far cheaper than the cost of an 1275.

Just my 2 cents.

As said, the best part about building a smallbore block is if you lunch it, you just pull another off the pile in the corner.
But finding good 1098 cranks could become a problem soonish.

1275s are getting rarer, I'm down to my last 2 spare std bore blocks. At least they are going up in value.. haha.

So now back to the original question of mr or ms "iamstib" to make your 1100 go like a 1275 you are going to have to modify the 1100. Your 1275 is ........... already a 1275. It is going to take more than the difference in purchase price to modify your 1100 to the point that it will have similar power to your standard 1275, and all you have is still an 1100 engine, so it remains a false economy.

Sorry mate but I disagree. It is going to take more than the cost of just the machining to achieve that sort of HP. But I am sure Graham is going to come along soon enough and tell us what this is going to cost. I'm not sure why everyone is concerned with destroying their blocks. How many engines are you guys building that blow up?
As long as people keep selling their1275's I will keep buying them.

Come on Graham you know what I am asking?

Let me guess "If you have to ask you can't afford it?"

Well you can spend $2100 (machining and purchase) on a 1098 and get 100bhp and 80ft of torque or you can spend $3500 (same machining costs and extra 1275 purchase costs) on a 1275 and get 160bhp and 120ft of torque.
Then worst case, lets say a year later something goes bang and the block or crank (or both) gets damaged, you can either spend another $100 on small bore parts or $500 (if you're lucky) on 1275 parts...

Send me up one of those $3500 160hp donks? ;)

I just rebuilt an 1100 for about 2k. All the machining costs are about the same regardless of size.

Purchase price of 1275? $1200
Price of 1100? $100
Your saying with that difference you couldnt buy the components to achieve the standard hp of a 1275?
GR has already given the piston price, $375
Cam grind, $150
Carby on manifold, $500
With what GR has shown already, it shows a 50% gain over a standard 1275. You need a new economist.
