All smiths tacho's require 12 volts. The issue to consider is the pulse connection.
First are you using points or electronic ignition?
Second what specific smiths tacho do you have?

For 9yath.. When i went to university i had only learnt instrument making through many years of osmosis. After i completed university Hospitality, Accounting, Commercial Law and postgraduate studies in Education.I began working formally as an instrument maker some 20 years ago. Recently I completed an auto electrical apprenticeship as it is no longer possible to study as an automotive instrument maker in Australia. Next I want to learn to brew Sake. :D
