Hi guys,

I'm new to mini's, and about to pick up where I left off 3 years ago with restoring my mini.

It's a 1977 Clubman LS - found this out in part from the compliance plate, and the badges I took off it.

Am I allowed to put a post up to ask all the questions that I can't find the answers to? She's my first mini, and I've lost all of the data I had to begin with so am starting from scratch. I'm happy to supply photo's too, if that helps.

Jenna

Okay guys, here goes.

Sorry about the picture quality, they were taken with my phone in the barn. It's squished in between a fence, tyres and a couple of other cars, so angels are rubbish.

Also, the colour is/was a baby blue/light blue.

Jenna

Can anyone please help me to decipher the compliance plate?

How do I find out what all the numbers on the compliance plate mean? Is there somewhere I can go (website) to help me get through it?

I really want to know what it had, what colour it was, extra's etc etc.

All I can make of the plate was the date 06/1977

The numbers 1-2-3a...... etc are all the design features it had to comply with according to government rules. Things like burst proof doors, exterior side mirror, dual breaking system, head supports on seats etc etc etc

You can read what the numbers mean here:
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... _adrs.aspx

The longer number is the number of the car assigned by the factory. There is a way to decipher this, but Im not sure what each bit means specifically.

All these wont help that much regarding what it did/should have to be original.

Blue polkadot fabric with black vinyl for interior. Triple cluster clocks, rear windscreen demister, special kinda radio unit.

actually there is a brochure on here that will tell you all about it.. I will see if I can find it

Thanks mate,

If nothing else, the numbers have told me that the seats that I have are not correct. Bummer, cos they would clean up quite well I reckon. maybe I'll sell them and buy the ones it's supposed to have.

Cant find the brochure ( I think there is a brochure around here somewhere)

Yeah I believe vinyl roof.

Driving lights in the grill
Tinted windows

I wrecked one probably 12 months ago (a lot of it was already missing)(interior was trashed)

most parts are common with any other Leyland mini.

I still have the grill with cut outs for the lights

Colour would have been on a sticker not the plate for a clubby, though didn't the LS only come in a couple of colours?

There are a couple of stickers and plates, I'll have to go and have a look and take some more photo's.

My back isn't up to me climbing over everything to get to it tonight, so I'll get them in the next few days.

I have found out that the seats are wrong though, have to source some correct ones now.

Is it okay if I post photo's up of the other plates etc that I find?
