Can someone please tell me if these are S extractors? they have been messed up a bit down the bottom
are they worth anything?

Yep...Cooper, but there are exhausts that flow a lot better around these days...

They pop up, but when one wants them they're impossible to find! Ask winnabbey.


It's interesting to me that a pair of welded together steel pressings were cheaper and easier than formed tube which is the norm these days, but entirely reasonable for a company which pressed metal panels for a living.

Yes, MG 1100, Cooper, Cooper S, Princess, etc. Most transverse A-series with twin carbs (except for the 1300GT) got those style of extractors.
There was a slight variation in the different models though.

MG1100 ones were same shape but different, a bit longer? I think.

The problem with all these pressings was they were thinner than a stock 1/16" wall zorst pipe.. so did not last well.

1275 S ones are 1/4" longer than others because the 1275 block is 1/4" taller than other blocks. 970 & 1071 S blocks are the same height as small bore 998/1098 blocks. Not sure about 997 blocks.

I took one out to 68mm bore back in 1968.

So Mick should they be grey or should they be matt black from original?

These ones are now in winnabbeys hands. They were/are new old stock and are covered in a thick black enamel from the factory.

They weren't fitted to a car from new, so will leave the grey or black one alone as there may have been a different supply chain for the aftermarket.
