Putting the speedometer for my 1961 850 back together and I find I have 2 different glasses. One is flat and the other curved. I believe that the curved one is correct, but can anyone confirm - Thanks in Advance. John K.

There are two types of glass I have come across (haven't pulled apart that many speedos though) concave (early silver faces speedo) and convex (later black faced speedo).

[Edit: for the life of me, I don't recall ever seeing a concave glass in an early Mini speedo...I wonder if some people just put them in the wrong way when reassembling them?]

I just looked at my daughters 850 (silver face) and the glass is concave.
Don't know if this has ever been pulled apart but it is not currently working so it must be original :D

I think most Mini speedos have concave glass, unless the glass has been refitted back to front.

Concave glass on early instruments and convex later. There is also more than one size of glass as in some speedo's the rubber fits on the glass and others below the glass. As a consequence there are different masks below the glass and bezel.

Later Mokes (with UK speedos) have flat glass.

Yes the bezel profile changed from pointy to rounded as a safety measure, I assume there were huge numbers of people getting large circles cut out of them like cookies.
