G'day. Wayne from Minisinthegong, b.1950 - d. TBA

First car Morris Minor 1000, 2nd AH Sprite Mk1 & only then i got smart and bought my first Morris Cooper in 1967. A little 3 year old. My dad was the highest country volume Mini salesman in NSW & i got my license on my 17th birthday in his black Morris 850 (& then went and drove my Sprite everywhere).

Starved of a Mini by family resposibilities for many years I bought a MCS MK2 lookalike about 1987 & the passion reignited. By 1991, I had 2 x MCS & I X M850. I still own one of those MCSs plus an 850, 1976 Mini S & a Leyland 1978. In a paddock I have a 1098 buggy, oh and a comp Corolla SX 4AGE.

The Mini S is nearing roadworthy with new paint & a lot of goods, masquerading as Mini SS (as it has for most of its 38 years) & then I sware I'll only build one more resto. :?:

XC9000 firstly code full the mini prototype. I had been trying for quite some time to join Ausmini without any success & I needed to use I special maybe recognisable code name to attract the moderator's attention. And BINGO! That's how I become XC9000.

That's me again (in Mini terms but some of youse already knew all this palava)!
WB :D

That is a pretty decent collection XC.

I think the 1980s Minis are like a genre in their own right. Usually a bastard mix of 850, Mini K, pioneer am/fm cassette player, topgun leads, plush pile 1970s house carpets, torn seats and worn out twin SUs.

If you were really lucky there was a slim chance of a set of discs as well.

I kind of miss the 1980s barn finds ...

Gidday folks Iam new and depressed!

Used to have collection of Minis back in young days back in NZ, then came to Aus. finished up Pt Lincoln establishing 2 busineses's and then need to get land and house. But oh hell do I miss the mini days.

My pride was an 850 that bought off a dealer for peanuts (cant even remember that long ago) 24 hours later is was an empty shell. 4 years later running 1350 motor, 5 sp racing gear box, all the english works suspension, 4 spotties across the front ( 2 of them came from a Cesena aircraft ) and so it went until some Knob decided life wasnt worth living and used it as a t bone killer, this was back mid 1970's

One day I'll be driving Minis again.

Welcome Tonz...spend a small amount of Aussie dollars and grab something you can just tinker with...a little tinkering here, then there...then you end up with a fire breathing, rubber shredding shoebox  :D

Aloha! Doug from Hawaii here. Maui to be exact. Got my (cough) '77 Cooper Sport RHD last year and have been going through it, mostly cleaning up previous bodge work. Pretty happy with it, it's exactly what I imagined it would be! lol
I've been working on cars and bikes for most of my 51 years.

I'll be coming to Phillip Island for the Island Classic next month crewing for an old team mate of mine and then I'll be taking to the track the following Monday on a BMW S1000RR to see if still remember how to handle a superbike! If anyone will be there, look me up, I'll be working on Bike #66.

Hi All,

My name is Linden I have owned and been "rebuilding" a 1969 Morris Mini K for the past 8 years. I have taken my time to get onto the forum as this has been a project of many interruptions. The car is a great little machine that I purchased from my brother in law and it has been in the family since about 1980 when it was purchased at a garage sale for $100. It has been through a few rebuilds of sorts... When I purchased the car it was running and registered, but the body was in need of work and the interior was pretty shabby, but generally the engine was fine... Over the past 8 years I have stripped it down, had the rust cut out and floor pans replaced etc... then resprayed professionally (3.5 years later when the panel beater finally finished) I got her home, I have had the interior re-upholstered, new wiring loom and I am now finally back into putting it all back together... The engine was taken out during the strip down, but is now back in and as the engine was in good condition I am not touching it too much yet... will leave that to a later date.

After life, business and house renovations have stalled the project again a couple of years and the Mini continued to sit in the shed on stands waiting for attention... this week I have finally got out there and got the basic electrics reconnected... checked the engine and have had her running reasonably well after so long...

So now it is the race to get the rest of the electrics done, replace the brake/clutch master cylinders and then see if we can get it back on the road...

Sorry for the long intro... but I may have a few questions along the way as I am certainly not an expert, but willing to have a go. I work in IT in my own business as a day job, so this usually is a "when I have time" project!!!

Catch you on the forum!!
Linden

Welcome Samuel (your new moniker to go with LJackson) :D

You are slowly getting there and have great part of the world to go play in a Mini.

Hi all, I am Paul and currently live in NZ but am considering jumping the gap to Aus, what state is it that does not allow modified cars ? All of my minis are fairly modified.
Also my choice of cities thus far are Adelaide, Melbourne or Brisbane can anyone give me any good reason to move to their city over another  Cheers.
