Further to GRs post but this time competition gearbox parts
The attached photo shows the gearbox from my Nb mini using 4sd straight cut
This was fully rebuilt with a new set of gears bearings and layshaft and good used synchros
No gearchange problems but no 3rd gear after 4 race meetings and 2 sprints

Holy crap!! Dogteeth look perfect, 2nd & 4th gears look fine, that has to be a material spec problem, yeah? Or just no/bad hardfacing on 3rd gear?

Sometimes I used to wonder why I kept all that "second hand crap" from minis I've had...it's looking like good quality gear now :?

cheers,

Jacob

Ken,
Where did you buy them from?

I wonder why the other gears didn't fail like 3rd? Did something get lodged in there?

Legally I doubt Ken can say where they come from. But looking at the machining line on the lay gear if I had to identify the origins of that lay gear I would say its a Minispares one. Just a guess.

I have been using MED sets for a while, no failures so far, so happy to recommend their products.

of course he can tell us where he bought them from. Ken didn't say the product or service was poor. He let the picture tell the story, for us to make up our own minds.

I agree. This isn't Ken's biased opinion of a product, it's simply displaying what it does, no more than a website reviewing something. If a particular brand or make is producing sub-standard quality items, we all have the right to express out experiences with them.

Having said this, if it were me, I would be contacting the manufacturer for comment first.

very interesting, but I guess we must think for a moment, is the mini spares product an out and out race product? I don't think it is in my opinion, in saying that I have been running the Mini Spares SCCR set under my big HP turbo motor for well over 6 years now with no issues at all, I do give it a good workout but it would be nothing like the top end racers of Group N such as Ken does pretty much every time the car is driven.

value for money I think they are a great product but yes I am sure there is a stronger more race spec product out there but you pay for it..

Grant
