Hi all,

Just after some input on this 68 Deluxe.

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/melbourn ... 1067518736

It is listed as an 1100 however after speaking to the owner he thinks it is a 998, is anyone able to identify from the photos?

Apparently also has a disc front end, would this be standard for this year model or or after market? Would the specs be the same as a Cooper S front end?

Any other input on this vehicle would be appreciated as I will inspecting it shortly.

Thanks,

The 998 and 1100 are visually the same from the outside. As it mentioned a fresh rebuild it could be either (only the cranks and pistons are different between the two engines).

De Luxe should've had drums standard. Could be 7.5" Cooper S discs on the front, 7" Cooper, 8.4" or some custom concoction of Camira discs and custom bracketry etc

Thanks for the info.

Is there any easy easy to visually identify what the discs may be from?

Pretty uncommon to get a set of 997 7" discs, so it will more likely be 7.5 or 8.4" varieties if not a Camira custom job which is also reasonably unlikely.

With the exception of the 7" discs, all are very good. You will need to ask the question as their is not an image to give the brake setup away.

Thanks Mick,

I asked the owner and he was under the impression that they came like that from the factory.
I'll see how I go.

They may be factory brakes, from another mini model, but the deluxe came with drums alone.
Discs are always welcome however on any model.

Nice looking mini....

It appears to be on 12"rims so my guess would be 8.4" discs.

As mick said any discs on a mini are an upgrade.

Rims are 12 inch, not sure what the brakes might be?

You would have been able to tell by taking a wheel off and looking at the drive flange. I'm basing my view on the lack of clearance between the caliper and the rim. Would think there would be a little more if 7.5s

If the wheels are 10inch I really doubt that they will be 8.4s as you need 12inch wheels to fit 8.4s. My guess is that you have 7.5s
