Hey all, I'm getting clunking from underneath the matic whilst driving. Noise isnt there when shifting from R/N/D but once you start going sometimes you'll hear it after shifting and sometimes when going over dips and what not. I havent yet pinpointed the exact conditions it does it in.

Whats the first to check though? 've got hydro all around. I'll try and take a video later if the video can capture the noise. its a clunk that you can kind of feel. I know car needs an alignment as I just put new wheels on but it was clunking prior to that. it seemed to be much louder when we re set the hydro suspension. I've lowered it again a bit and its a little less although definitely there.

Wife says tahts the only thing worrying her about the car lol. So would like ti know what I should be looking at to get rid of it.

What uni joints are you running out of the diff? Rubber? Hardie Splicer? or Pot Joint?
Also, do you feel it under your feet?

If it's the rubber uni's then i would be checking the condition of them and the u - bolts!
Might also have a look at the outer CV's, is the castle nut tight on the end of the drive shaft?

Cheers Shane

Yes, can be felt on my feet!

I forgot what unis I've got. I put it up the other day and took photos but missed the important bits LOL

that said I have not checked the engine mounts. Might be it. I imagine the 1275 will have the same mounting points. As I'm planning to put a 1275 auto in it in the coming months. I'll try and get it up later and have a better look.

whats the best way to check the mounts? I did rung up melba motors here who service minis. will get htem to have a squizz

maybe look at the "Inner" end of your axles,,, next to the diff under the middle of the car

Also check the 4 subframe bolts in the floor, they have been known to come loose. Mine now have locknuts on em.

I would check engine mounts, stabilisers, and ball joints- they can make a fair old thud when they go bad.

When you look at the subframe, at the very rear of the front subframe there will be two bolts per side. Roughly where you feet would be.
