I have noticed the current version of lock washer for the flywheel bolt is very soft steel and turns when I tension the bolt?
Any recommendation as to where I can buy something resembling the hardness of the original type?

Don't use it. Put Loctite 262 on the bolt threads instead.
I've done this for years, never had one come loose. Ditto for the cam nut and crank pulley bolt.

I have been using loctite high strength but have an aversion to leaving the lock washer off......
The bolt won't come loose but maybe the soft washer is why I am getting some fretting between the crank and flywheel?

won't a soft washer render any loctite you put on the thread pretty bloody useless? the stuff sets, if you have a soft washer in there and it's letting the flywheel move around it'll eventually work its way loose

I haven't used a lock washer since I first saw Kev say to use loctite ~10 years ago

but yeah, you'd expect fretting with a soft washer because it's the flywheel moving as it squishes the washer around

Current lock washers are soft chinese? rubbish.
I believe GR doesn't use them either.

I have had a simular problem in my Moke.

Binned the washer and it allows you to pull the flywheel cleanly up the taper.

You will be surprised how many more flats the bolt turns to get the 150lbs torque setting.

Always lap the flywheel on with some fine grinding paste you must ensure its cleaned spotless afterwards.

I also give the bolt a generous clout once torqued up with a copper hammer. You will be surprised that the bolt moves once you recheck the torque setting again. I do this until I get a instant click on my torque wrench.

If the flywheel is on properly it should come off with a loud bang next time its off.

I had a problem with the clutch and had to disassemble it three times. It was a faulty pressure plate

My personal best time is 3.5 hours on a hoist. Pita of a job
