If you cut 9mm off and that lowered it 37mm then the 15mm ahould lower it
more... Obviously, and i have tubbed the rear guards anyways so i need to
get it a bit lower cos the guard is higher.... And like i said i can always wind
the hi - los up if its too low, and is its still to high i can always cut more off

Apart from limiting your suspension droop (stopping your cones falling out) short shocks also place the internal piston in a more optimum positon for damping - ie they are better matched to the avaialble suspension travel of the car. If you use standard length shocks, any damping is done near the end of their travel - you may also run the risk of bottoming them out and breaking internals on extreme lowered cars...

Even though I havent been in here much over the last few weeks I have been busy :)
Everything is just about back together, all lights, chrome trim, bumpers and new door seals went in today.

I went to finally tackle the front Konis and HiLos today and as I suspected its not as easy as the rears.

Can you tell me which bolts I need to undo to be able to drop the trumpet out?
The nut marked with the green dot I undid as well as the lower bolt underneath all of the hub section, but they didnt come apart and I seem to recall they have to be knocked out. I gave them both a decent wack with a FBH (with nut attached to the end to protect the threads) but neither of them wanted to part company with the arms that they are bolted to :( Are they the only nuts that will help me drop the hub to get the trumpets out?

Thanks in advance, all I need to do after the front suspension is get the airhorns working and connect the rear LED brake light... oh and tidy of the cab floor enough to get through licensing, will carpet and do other interior work after license. Hopefully licensing this week

and Gordo, 12" Performance Superlights with 165 Yokohamas.. I think you have 13's lined up for yours eh ;)

You should only need to undo the top Ball joint and use a cone compressor on the the rubber Cone to give you clearance...Rember back :?

but I dont have a cone compressor :(

and the top ball joint is the green dot right? I undid it and it wouldnt come apart. Can I hit it REALLY hard (with nut attached) is that how you are supposed to get it apart? Do I have to support the hub assembly anywhere else while I hit it?

Realy the only other way it to disconet the top arm other wise which is from inside the engine bay...down low

um there was a rubber grommet on that inspection hole, till I took it out to look under it and when I went to put it back it went through the hole  doh. I'll try and get hold of a cone compressor.
I was actually thinking of cutting the existing trumpets out coz I'll never need them again, but I cant get a hacksaw in there :P so cone compressor I guess it has to be :(

well the hacksaw wouldnt fit, but the blade did. Cut through each trumpet (above the knuckle thing inside) using hacksaw blade, by hand. Getting the HiLos in was the next hurdle as even when they were wound RIGHT IN (hear me gafmo, they were wound RIGHT IN) they still wouldnt fit. A cone compressor would have helped yeah, but I ended up compressing the cone by levering the HiLo up to squish the cone and then push the knuckle under the HiLo and then it all slotted together perfectly. I put it all back together with Hilos adjusted up a tad, took it off the jacks, but it wasnt lowered enough, so jacked her up, lowered it to the lowest setting and now Im happy :) That was one side, I got the trumpet out of the other side but havent been able to get the HiLo in yet. I need to find something in the garage thats just a tad thicker than my big shifter coz thats what I used the lever the cone up.. will have em both in tomorrow though :P

The way i got the front of mine out was to undo these bolts surrounded
in the yellow, and slide the rod out which then dropped the whole cone
and everything out, mind you it was alot harder than just cutting them out
and i still had to cut the bloddy cone off the rubber cos for the life of me
i couldnt get it apart...
Image

I havnt put the front back in yet but i left the bolts loose so it souldnt be such
a pain, but i have done the rears and the are alot easier.
And Jill yeah i do have the 13 x 7 performance superlites

thanks Gordo,
They were tight squeeze to get them back in, I got one side in by squeezing damn hard, but couldnt get the other side in. I ended up getting the thread on the Hilos extended so they do right up to the end of the Hilo bolt. When they are new (this type, obviously there are different types) but mine didnt have thread all the way to the end of the bolt.
Now that there is thread all the way, that gave me another 12mm or so to wind them in to make fitting them easier. Then wind em out. Mine are all done now, did a final adjustment today as one side front was lower than the other, so they both even now :)

Only takes about 3 mins to jack it up, remove a wheel and wind em up or down... :)

PS. and you also have that phat body kit.. I want your flairs
