Atm my exhaust is already horribly loud, you cannot hold a conversation with a person while it is moving. It is just too loud.

Im getting this all fitted through a reputable exahaust business here on the coast, so it will all be legal. The guy that is doing it has owned a Mini for 25 years, so im taking on board what he is advising me to put on. + atm i have the cash left over from rebuild, so i wanna pay a pro to do a proper job...+ then its covered if it falls off the car....lol

Also, meeni, that is the tip I am getting.

Is peter (or is it paul?) at Carline (General Mufflers) in gosford doing it ?

He's a Mini nut from way back and that twin-upsweep is his personal LOVE .... he threw one on my car for Nix ....

Ok, he just charged me $400 for all the custom pipe work he did........ shock:

He does a good job... 2 1/2 years on and i reckon my system still sounds nice.....I think maybe a larger down-pipe would be nice, but then again, probably not worth it !

Good luck Max, you're getting there..... all ready for Saturday ?

J

Also will need some intercooler piping sorted....now, stainless or aluminium. . . . decisions, decisions. . .

haha!
good on ya :)
we had a massive 'rice' exhaust system for kaye, sounded good, but far out it was LOUD!
you could hear the car 2blocks away..actually the neighbours from 2 blocks away complained it was too loud..
i would def agree with ur decision to go smaller, nicer, ear-tolerant exhaust...
our mini van has a massive zorst too..needs a coupla hot dogs too..atm our 'fix' was to put in a louder stereo..worked out ok, but after a long trip you come to realise that you are in fact deaf...
hope ur minis ready for a run on sat maxi
cheers
Kaz

The recommended size is 1.78" exhaust to gain maximum power & the original was rc40.

God that's cheap, I am trying to get a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust from turbo back and including a hi flow cat converter, and so far all quotes have been around the $1100 mark (mild steel!). Bloody Canberra...I am thinking of getting the pieces and welding up my own.

1.78" or 1 7/8"?

I'm thinking the latter, though what's 0.95" between friends

Seriously, I think it's 1 7/8" coz I think you'd get blank stares asking for some 1.78" exh. tube
