Hi all, on my K project I'm going to be fitting disk brakes so I have been looking at building up the rear brakes with 5/8 cylinders.
The roll pin in the cylinder is on the opposite side to the hole in the backing plate. I'm Just after some advice before I go and drill out the backing plate. Is this the only solution or do I simply need a different plate. Cheers, Richard.

There are backing plates with the correct hole for 5/8 cylinders. There may possibly be some backing plates with both holes.

However it is common practice to just drill out your own backing plate to suit.

yep thanks, I'll drill away.

I drill another 5/32" hole in the cylinder using the mill or bench drill, and move the roll pin. Makes a neater job.

Had the same deal with mine putting new cylinders in just last week, and given it already had discs up front I'm assuming the old cylinders were 5/8".... Just work out the locations & drill new holes, only takes a few minutes.

are you saying you have discs on the front and replaced the 5/8" wheel cylinders with bigger ones?

If you have discs, you do NOT want rear cylinders bigger than 5/8" as used on an S. Unless you like swapping ends @ 110KMH on a freeway in the wet..! Interesting test of reflexes, but not funny!

No, I replaced the stuck wheel cylinders with ones that work...I'm assuming the old ones were 5/8" due to the discs being fitted by a previous owner. The new ones are definitely 5/8", purchased from my local Mini bits shop.
