Hi guys,

I need to buy a battery for my Deluxe.

Just wondering what size/type/model number people recommended? Ideally I'll be grabbing something tomorrow.

I'm also going to be changing to negative earth, so any tips appreciated in doing this too!

Cheers
Will

1. As said, change the battery leads about and swap the coil polarity.
2. Pull the cover off the voltage regulator. Push the cutout contacts shut (engine off) for a couple of secs, then use a screwdriver to pull them open. You have just polarized the generator to negative earth.
Nothing else needed.

Cheers gents!

Any insight as to what battery to buy?
I can't even find a catalogue that would tell me what fits.

Thanks

I usually run a battery for a Ford Falcon, sort of the biggest CCA that will fit in the battery box.

I have a Bosch 90D26R - it is absolutely the biggest battery that will fit in the battery box. It's a frigging monster :D

The car sat untouched from 1st November to 23rd March (dates from the log book) and the starter spun like I'd parked it the day before... even when it had to fully prime the injection system

you can find it in this catalog - http://www.bosch.com.au/car_parts/en/do ... _Final.pdf

Length 260mm, Width 172mm, Height 225mm

I run an Exide X56D 550cca in 3 of my cars , 04 XR6 , 94 2.8 Turbo Diesel and my "S" ,
all were bought from Big W for around $186 .00 , i've been using them for years .

I just checked the one in my ute and it was bought in 08 , ( i always write the date on the battery when i put them in ), i've never had an issue with any of them under 5yrs old .

As said, get a big one, as they take longer to die in the bum.
I'm running a Century now, I think it's 620 or 640CCA. I got 8 yrs out of one of these in my boat years ago.

Optima yellow top, I it's a D51 but you could fit a D34 I reckon, which has higher CCA. Bought off eBay and delivered for around $200. Mine works fine even if cars sits for weeks without driving.
