Jus wanting other peoples opinons on superchargin a 1275. Would it be worth the money in getiing the kit and sc12? If so, where could i get the kit?
Another thing is what other mods will i have to undertake to the engine as well as the body to handle the extra power?

If anyone has got the kit installed can i have some feedback on it. :D

The kit looks alright for a basic fitout. Seems cheap enough. Inlet design looks a bit restrictive though. For the dollars seems OK but havent seen any power figures on it or seen it in person. It is not an easy job to build one from scratch so a kit is definitely the way to go if you can.

A new Brisbanite, welcome. Hope you are coming to Muster, there will be quite a few of us from ausmini going.

As for the supercharger kit, the one AWDMOKE shows looks good but it's not how I would do it. I would, personally, locate a pulley where it needs to be so that it spins off the crankshaft. Off that pulley I would have a drive (say one foot long) so you could sit the supercharger over the clutch housing somewhere. Just an idea I've had for a while.

The guy who makes those kits is a member here. If you read the second post that awdmoke had posted above, you will find him in there. His username is "92", so go PM him about getting hold of a kit.

Welcome to ausmini. 8)

With my own 998 with a supercharger and this kit it makes 102 HP at wheels.
Standard 1275 with 8psi boost and mild cam 90Hp at wheels
1380 with 286 cam 1:1.5 rockers lighty modded head 6psi boost 105 HP at wheels
Yes the inlet looks crude but works fine, the inlet runners are ported so they run smooth from the plenum flow more than enough for an A series.

3 HP between a 998 and a 1380? Same Dyno? Why? A 1380 wouldn't be to far off that NA would it?

Maybe this blower is a bit small for a 1380? How about an SC14...

The blower is not too small, the 998 runs 13 psi boost big valve 1275 head 276 cam 1:1.5 rockers
On the 1380 boost was set low 6psi and only made 80hp at wheels NA. Boost could have been set higher but thought it would get too much bore flex.
These blowers came off a 16v 1.6 litre engine so will pump enough air.

How can porting the plenum really improve anything on a carby-fed SC engine???

Think about it.

The air that has been compressed into the plenum is now above atmospheric pressure, and will therefore FORCE itself out the first available hole(s).. porting will have a good effect on a naturally aspirated engine, where the air is being pulled thru by the vacuum created by the moving piston... porting reduces resistance in the flow of air, therefore allowing more air to be sucked thru.

Still dont undrestand?? Try this....

Using a vacuum cleaner, first turn it on, then put your hand over the end of the pipe... the motor starts to strain badly cos you are restricting the available air flowing at negative pressure (vacuum).

Now put your hand over the exhaust hole of the vacuum cleaner... does it slow down? Hardly. Why? Beacause the air flow has positive pressure behind it. Positive pressure does not lose its efficiency with the same restriction (in this case, your hand). It is under pressure from the fan on the motor, and will therefore force itself out of the hole.

Sure, porting the plenum may help a TEEENY bit, but in this situation we WANT square edges to introduce turbulence into the air flow. This is to help re-atomise the fuel after it is compressed by the blower.

Square edges are a good thing to have in a carby-fed "suck thru" setup.

Flowing the plenum may be good on an EFI supercharger setup, where there is NO fuel in the plenum's compressed air. But it still wont do heaps.

If I am wrong here, please, shoot me now.

Sorry Gaf, it sounds like I was biting your head off with that first comment.... was not intentional. It was meant to be a general question, not a mean comment....

Everyone else, please note, I did say to use your HAND on the vacuum cleaner... and nothing else
