As my 997 Cooper restoration is gaining much momemtum, I will shortly need a new loom. I'll be looking for one in a near as possible to original state. Any recommendations? Does anyone have any feedback on the Minispares ones?
Thanks

I prefer to spend more to get a quality item. As my grandfather says "the quality remains long after the price is forgotten"

And if more people (and companies) lived by this philosophy the world would be a much better place

I got mine from Autosparks in the UK. I would have liked to have had it made in Australia, but the UK price was significantly cheaper.

Is there much of a difference between the UK and Australian harness?
I think the flasher can may be in the wrong spot.

It is, but they did from the factory a extension wiring loom that put the flasher inside the car

and if you have ever seen a wiring loom fire...you wouldn't mind paying a few hundred bucks to replace a 40 year old (possible) fire hazard...don't get me started on house wiring

VWH are also amenable to incorporating into the basic harness any special requirements you might have. Talk to them, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

I've often wondered whether there's any hope of hearing the flasher can ticking when its in the engine bay.

Piezo Sensor - CM-01B Contact Microphone!

Applications: Electronic stethoscope, Bone-conducted sound pickup, general purpose contact microphone, Vibration/Impact sensing

Description: The CM-01B Contact Microphone uses sensitive but robust PVDF piezo film combined with a low-noise electronic preamplifier to provide a unique sound or vibration pickup with buffered output. The design minimizes external acoustic noise while offering extremely high sensitivity to vibration applied to the central rubber pad. The CM-01B is ideal for detecting body sounds and blinker can clunks.

Plug it in to your sound system and crank up the volume!
