Hi All,
A newbie here, both to the forum and to the mini.
My son has had a 78 1275 for a few years now and it has been off the road for the last 2 years after someone kindly ran into it and ran off !
He has lost interest and the car has sat idle in my driveway being neglected. So, time to do something about it.
That'll be my job. Good ol dad ! But there's a cunning plan, possession being 9/10th's and all !!!

Will be plenty of questions !

My first car was a mini .It was a 998 and my mates 1100s with 544 cams and twin carbs set me about competing and fun. Those same guys cant wait for my new Clubbie to be on the road to give them a drive and recreate younger days.
Much help where needed from Graham and local machinists is awesome .

Hi Everyone,
Recently purchased my first mini (1976 Leyland Clubman) and slowly working towards getting it back on the road.
It was the previous owners daily driver apparently, and I'm looking forward to getting it cleaned up a bit and going for a cruise.

Probably going to need a bit of guidance, but it seems like this forum has everything I could need. :)

Cheers,
Patrick.

Hi everyone,
I've had my 998 Morris Mini Deluxe for almost 15 years now and its just been sitting in the garage doing nothing. When I first bought it from a friend in Victoria I was quite enthusiastic and did some work on it. I had a door repaired and resprayed, fitted Cooper disc brakes and reconditioned the master cylinder. Whilst cleaning it up to take it for inspection I discovered rust in places i hadn't realised and lost momentum. I never ended up having the inspection done for registration and its been sitting in the garage ever since. Now I'm hoping to get it on the road in some way or another and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Over the years I've considered and planned a complete restoration but it has never eventuated. At this stage i jut want to get the car back to a drivable/registrable condition. I have previously been a member of this forum and I'm pretty sure my username was Odd. Oh, i almost forgot the mention I live in Adelaide. The pic below is my car when it was drivable and owned by my friend in Victoria. It doesn't look like that now unfortunately.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi all,

My name is Aj, i have been on the forum for a couple of weeks now, reading a lot of the build threads.
I was looking at doing a ground up resto on a van, but couldn't justify the expense and I wanted one now, not in two years (which at a minimum, is what it would take me)
I'm an electrician from Newcastle and I just bought this today:

I hope that picture works^^

This is the third mini I have owned! Always wanted a van!
Just looking to tidy up the interior and drive it.

Anyway hope to learn heaps and just have fun along the way.
Cheers Aj

G'day all.
My name is Mick and I have a bitsa mini that is somewhere through a 21 year resto.
I also have an affliction with Datsuns. I have a 240z that I get around in some weekends and race in regularity every couple months. I also have a 1600 that is a future project.

To get back on topic, Mini's. My first car was a '63 850 mini in BRG. It was a hand me down from Mum and had been sitting in the shed engineless for all the years I could remember. The year before getting my licence, Dad took me through a great learning experience of rebuilding all the mechanics of the car and got it rego'd. It wasn't quite standard with a 1098 motor and 7.5" front discs.
About 3 weeks after I got my licence, I was being a typical 17 year old, racing it along some dirt roads when I flipped it end over end, damaging the front right and rear left corners of the car.
I was offered a rego'd '70 minimatic as a straight swap for the fully stripped '63 shell. I didn't know any better and took the offer. The auto was tired and didn't last long so I put the sub frames and motor from the '63 into it and drive it more sensibly than the last one for the following 3 or so years. I then decided to give it a respray, cut out a little cancer and gave it a coat of the then new Bini BRG with some silver stripes.
Before getting it back on the road I went travelling and haven't touched it since, nigh on 20 years.
I'm starting to get the mini bug again and getting some inspiration from this great forum.

Anyway that's enough about me, if people are interested I'll post some pics.
Thanks to you all for providing such a great source if info.

Cheers
Mick

Hi everyone,
I am Mace, I've had a 74 Leyland S in Corinthian Blue since 1987 and it was my daily driver for a number of years, I also have a 1973 S in Plum Loco with a full open top vinyl sunroof as a donor car. I can categorically say Minis are fun to drive but not exactly fun to work on. My uncle was a BMC / Leyland motor mechanic. I hope I can help in the forum in some way.

Wow big influx recently :D Welcome 78 Clubbie, Ian_B, AJ (nice van mate), Patrick, Matt (nice to see another Adelaide mini :D ), Cozza and Mace. Phew there has been a few new names. Hopefully you will find lots of helpful information in here and feel free to ask questions, there are many knowledgeable posters on here (wish I was one of them...)

If you are embarking on a rebuild consider starting a thread in the Members mini Gallery as everyone loves to see how a project is progressing.
Welcome to Ausmini guys

Cheers
CJ

Hello again everybodies, it's been quite a while since I have stopped by, 2009 actually..... Life got in the way, finally hoping to finish my mini resto after all these many years, the little bugger turns 50 this year, so thought I must get back to finish it.
Will have a few questions to ask, been so lomg out of touch, will need to find lots of parts and a good mechanics restoration place, I was talking to "crash" a few years back, he had that place of toombul road here in Brisbane, but now not there anymore, anyway, Hello once again.

Chris

Hi,

My name is Nick,

I never thought I would own a Mini but after 10 years of my partner saying she would like one the planets aligned and so on mothers day this arrived in our driveway.

Image

It started as a 1965 ish deluxe. At some point it had some cooper parts added, these include a RHS tank, twin carbs, dash, badges and the two tone paint job. Unfortunately not the disk brakes though.

It came with a big stack of papers and I was told it got driven 2-3 times a week and had also been fitted with a 1100 engine.

Since getting it I have had to throw a bit of time and money at it to fix a number of things
Front brakes
CV's
Front wheel bearings
Windscreen seal
Rebuild carbs
Engine mounts

The future plans for the Mini are to use it as our second car and just enjoy it.

Sean here,

Bought my first Mini (75 Clubman - 998) only a month or so ago after just seeing an add online.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever want, or look for a Mini but for some reason this one 'looked' reasonable whilst glancing through some other adds. After a bit of conferring with the owner about the condition I was kinda hooked. Albeit one issue, the car was over 800kms away in Melb whilst I am situated in the ACT region. Ended up negotiating a price before making the treck down to look at it and obviously bringing it home.

Here are some photos, relatively straight Hairy Lime body!

Back home having its first service.

Cant wait to get stuck into it.

Trip on the way home.......

It's no special model so It'll pretty much be a general tidy and spray including an engine overhaul to enjoy with the young family.
Hope you enjoy.

PS, I'll have plenty of questions to ask in this forum, plus I have just purchase a couple of spare engines (998 & 1098) from a member on here including a truck load of parts - literally a large volume of moke, cluman and round nose parts which I know absolutely nothing about.
I will need some assistance with ID'ing all the parts I have. Have just taken a load of photos to post at some stage to help me match which models the parts belong to so I can offload some to make room in the shed again.

Cheers Sean
