Question:

A 997 Cooper with a red interior should have which coloured carpet?

Is it Grey or Red??????

Pics I've ever seen is grey with like a fleck through it later 998 coopers got the westminster I've never seen anywhere 997 998 coopers with factory black interiors

Yes, the couple of pictures of 997's i've seen do show a grey type carpet.

Definitely grey loop pile carpet for 997. I believe that the 998's would also use the same carpet as would the very early (1965) Australian Cooper S. Westminster carpets came with the 1966 Cooper S (not sure of change dates though). An original Cooper S with car number around 700 has the same green loop pile as a Cooper 997. The grey carpet should have some black and whiteish flecks in the weave. I used this carpet (see below) which closely matched a small piece of original carpet retrieved from under the seat brackets. Edging should be dark grey (Dove grey) vinyl. Pattern as per all Coopers and 'S'

My Dad's Aussie 998 Cooper had original carpet and it was loop pile similar to the blue on the link above.
