Hi Guys
I'm looking for a genuine but not too restored Cooper S to buy and saw this ad on Gumtree today.

Is anyone familiar with this car as I don't really know what I should be looking for.
I've called and left a message but I'd expect the poor bloke is probably inundated with calls.
If he does call me back and it's not already sold, would anyone nearby be willing to check it out for me (would pay costs for time/travel).

By the looks of the dash, the trim is the pale green, but the seat images do come off with a bit of a blueish tone, but I think this might be just the camera and lighting.

The number plates come back as a body number ending in 5129. Looks like a Mk2 but has a Mk1 ID plate.

yes I did see the plate it was listed the other day and ad removed I'm sure it was originally a sandown red white roof but no mention of this in new ad

Here's some pics-the ID plate and a few other bits don't look right to me (riveted on parts-not spot welded !!)

My boot board brackets are riveted like those ones.

I thought I had seen this one before. It is a Mini K body reshelled to look like a MK2 S with a MK 1 ID plate.

All looks ok to me.

Is it a reshell? or is it a proper mk2 69 and someone panicked in the early day with no id tag and miss informed put a mk1 tag to get registered does look to have all tabs in the boot etc

Don't get confused like me, thsi is now the Baltic Blue car in the second link, not the original red car.

Guys I know this red car very well as it used to belong to me. It is as genuine a cooper S as you can get. The body is very good as in the door gaps were excellent and generally pretty straight. Would make a great project car that doesn't need tons of money spent on the motor or body. The engine and box were fully rebuilt prior to it coming into my hands. From memory the receipts from the previous owner exceeded 8K. The motor had never been started when I had it. The seats are green.
