ok, I tried to install my air horns to the Mini for the 2nd time of its life, I dont remember having any trouble last time but Im pretty sure it was a different wiring diagram.

Can you guys tell me:
1. Which diagram do I follow? Top or bottom?

I used the bottom one, got them to work but not when they were supposed to so if its the bottom one (or either) can someone tell me in plain english which side of the fuse box do I connect which wire? If we are looking at the fuse box from the front of the car, the back of the fuse box is closest to the driver. There is drivers side and passengers side.. Im not sure which quarter I should connect it to. Drivers side back, drivers side front, passengers side back, passengers side front (of the fuse box).

<edit> On a Mini, there is 12V+ supply onto the horn- the horn push button completes the circuit to ground.

You can connect it where you want as long as the system has it's own fuse.
Otherwise, follow the wires of your chouce, and when you get to the starter relay, there's your connection side.

ok.. so what was the earth for the old horn goes to 86.
What was the power to the old horn goes to 85.
87 goes to the air horns, thats fine.
But which quarter of the fuse box do I connect 30 from the relay?

Anywhere with positive current, as long as the horn has it's own fuse.
Where the battery positive lead goes would be a good spot.

Why is switch 5 needed? It is an isolation switch to switch them off entirely.

the "switch" is already there, thats the horn button on the indicator stalk (in most cases) what ever turns the horn on is the switch

Switch 3 is the horn switch, switch 5 is an isolation switch.

Not necessary. Do you understand the switches now? Switch 5 is not necessary if you want them to operate all the time.

I would suggest getting the power to terminal 30 on the relay from the battery side terminal on the starter solenoid. And make sure you put it through a fuse in Line, also make sure you use 5mm wire from the solenoid to the relay term. 30 and from the relay 87 terminal to the Compressor + terminal. Thius will give the Compressor all the current it needs to run properly and produce the air it needs to run the horns nice and loud. Most people wiring horns make the same mistake and use small wires. This causes voltage drops and the horns become inefficient.
