Hi Sean,

welcome to the obsession, good luck trying to make room in the shed you do know that mini's tend to breed ;) no sooner do you move on some parts and others seem to appear from nowhere.... Nice tidy clubby you have found and in a pretty cool colour too.

cheers,

CJ

Hi everyone!!

New to this forum and am on a hunt to build one of my favorite cars!

Currently drive my daily which is a 2009 BMW 335i
Image

and my track car is a 2002 Mitsubishi Evo 7RS Widebody
Image

As you can see quite like my JDM Market but now I figured it's time to start my toy car collection.

The first on the list is a MK1-MK2 Austin - Morris Mini Cooper S but as I am thinking of going straight to an engine conversion I would most likely just settle for Mini K or whichever is more suitable for the conversion.

I have already started looking on carsales to look for the perfect candidate for the swap but still have a lot to read up on before I bite the bullet.

The idea is to place a JDM K20/K24 Frankenstein engine in the Mini with complete restoration of the original interior with some retrim work.

With the Engine and Gearbox already sourced and in my hands... all their left is the car itself and subframe!

Thanks for reading!!

Ming

Welcome aboard, you should find a few cars out there already with a few engine conversions in them. Good luck with your search.

Hi there Mini Mates,
I have recently bought a 1968 Morris Mini. It is a deluxe with many cooper features. Indigo Blue and it's a good little runner, although need some TLC.
I have enjoyed reading some of your expert posts (SU carb rebuild and Rusty's rebuild).
I am in South Australia. cheers !

Good luck Simonw. Thankfully there's still plenty of projects out there to be picked up.

Hi,

Lenny here. I am awaiting delivery of my first mini. It's a 98 rover.

After lovingly bringing an HJ ute up to scratch with a rat-rod feel and then regretting selling it, the deal with the missus was that I get something that can be a daily driver and also that she can park. I've always loved minis, but had been discouraged. My father's first car was an second hand, oil dripping, yellow mini which the floor rusted out of one day whilst he was at the lights, leaving him sat on ground. He rolled it into the car park at Victoria market where he worked. The wreckers wanted too much to take it away so he left it there, it disappeared after about two months, or so the story goes.

Anyway I'm looking forward to the beginning of my mini adventure.

Would be keen to maybe put in a supercharger or a turbo (without modifying the bonnet) for a power boost. If anybody has any tips on these or a good guy that can do the work, let me know.

Will probably end up redoing the dash and door trims, and maybe the seats down the track, make it a bit more retro.

But first I need to take delivery and enjoy it.

Welcome Dr Len,

I have this rash that won't go away...all the creams don't work...what should I do???

A 98 Rover Mini will be fuel injected with an ECU, seems a shame to remove that and replace with an aftermarket ECU (probably) and a Super/Turbo charger...there is a lot of conventional thinks you can do like head and flow work that will make the car quite lively...worth thinking about :?: :D

Thanks 9YaTaH.

Drink lots of water and never, ever strain on the toilet.

Definitely makes sense, might see what power boosts I can get before I start completely messing with the engine. I'm at that early, excited stage of a project with big dreams of what can be done.

Hello everyone,

My name is Sunny and I'm born and raised a south western Sydney bogan residing near Bonnyrigg, NSW. My shenanigans are funded by a boring IT deployment/inventory/project management job in the city at the headquarters of a large internet search company.

Been wanting to build my own Mini for as long as I've been into cars so a few months back picked up this shell for not that much money:

Image

It was very fun towing this up with the sheer power of a base model Hyundai rental...

I've been ridiculously busy since then with work and other stuff in life so haven't really had a chance to do anything in the past three months but slowly collect bits and bobs. Happily, things are settling down very soon and having accumulated enough parts to really get started with figuring out what the heck goes where, I'm looking forward to having some time on weekends to get cracking. So I figure it was time to introduce myself to the fold having lurked for quite a while now.

Would like to also take this opportunity to thank timmy201 who has been helping out with fantastic advice over the past few months and linking me to things I should grab.

I'll open up my own build thread this weekend, and chuck a few things up in the classifieds for sale / swaps once I work out what I will and what I won't need. This is my first "ground up" build, I've done plenty of engine swaps and projects here and there but I've never gone as far enough to start from nothing but four wheels, two subframes and a shell. Going to be heaps of fun, pain, tears and joy I reckon.

I currently flog a RenaultSport Megane 225 as a daily chariot.

Talk soon!
Sunny
