I know I've asked this question before, but did anyone who has made their own dashboard with new warning lights and the like have any issues with the alternator failing to apply sufficient charge to the battery? Also, Did you wire in the voltage regulator from the original instrument cluster?
I used the original cluster and wired it to the regulator. I had problems with the alternator not charging the battery. A simple rookie error when I changed the globes in the cluster to LED it meant the ALT light was not drawing enough current to turn on the alternator.
I changed the globe back to normal and it worked again.
I too made that same mistake, with the alt warning light being an LED. After I realized my mistake, I wired the original globe back in. But still when the car is idling, I don't get the 14.3 V. The multimeter just reads whatever the battery is at which is normally a tiny bit over 12 V. I don't have the regulator wired in at the moment.
