From what I've been told althouogh never driven a rover auto - top speed is about 140kph. Which I would imagine simplified means I can sit at 100/110 without the motor sounding like its on its last legs.

on a 92 rover mini manual I had, I hit ~140ks and it wasnt too bad. if I can atleast

1. keep up with traffic

2. drive on the highway

I'll be happy!!!!

************

that said though the rover mini I did 140 in had 12' wheels!!!

Yes, but the diameter of a 12" wheel + (usual low profile) tyre is much the same as a 10" wheel with 145/10 or 165-70/10 on it..
Morris 1300 and 1100 had 80 section tyres, bigger diameter. Won't fit on the back though, they foul the trailing arms.

Hey chaps, just been doing some reading on this auto converting. I've picked up a auto spi 94 Rover, ex Japan. The auto lunched itself and has been sitting in a local auto trans. shop for the last year awaiting parts, etc. I picked it up for a good price as the owner was wanting out and am setting about sourcing parts to convert it to manual. Have a good box from a metro, clutch, transfer gears, etc and am currently stripping the motor to carry out the drilling, etc for oil ways, filter head, dip stick. Today I've been studying the torque converter/crank sensor. The reluctor set up looks to be a pressed ring bolted onto the converter hub. And the sensor mounts into the end cover. I'd like to make a reluctor that is similar in tooth count, etc and bolt onto the front pulley. And move the sensor to suit.
Anybody have any thoughts or experience here on this? There is a reluctor that the manual spi's have that is mounted to the back of the verto clutch/flywheel and the sensor is located just under the starter motor.
It looks huge but I think making a smaller one, or possibly using the auto one, mounted on the front pulley would be the go.
Cheers
Glenn

A few people here have fitted Megajolt ignition and put a Falcon? reluctor ring and sensor on the harmonic balancer. It works OK.

User Ben on here sold me a very well made trigger wheel and sensor bracket for the harmonic balancer. It doesn't fit with the 4PK belt balancer I have but is perfect for the standard V belt one.
