I won't be taking a chill pill I have been a member of MCCNSW for over 30 yrs and you have done nothing but bad mouth it ,do I agree with everything the club does or has done ,no, but I am prepared to support it and not bad mouth it, if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

I'm not sure how or why this has turned into a MCCNSW bashing. As a non-member (ex-member) I absolutely respect the right MCCNSW have to impose what ever rules they see fit in order to uphold their commitment to RMS.

Maybe someone from MCCNSW could comment on wether or not the club will be implementing the new trial for the 2year period. Would members still be expected to attend at least 3 club events a year?

If they change it, the devil is in the details. Like, is it going to cost us MORE??

I'm with you doc they don't give you something for nothing I would be lucky to drive all my cars 3 time a year I just don't get time I don't wont to pay more money for a service I wouldn't utilize properly

As a Club Registrar in NSW I welcome the change as it reduces the administrative burden upon the Club.

Hopefully it will not affect the cost of historic registration.

There is no requirement from RMS for eligibility criteria for cars beyond safety, 30yo and not modified.

Club executives who dictate tenure, insist on attendance at enough meetings per year, or which refuse to make use of the Longer Journey/Day Book provisions in the rules should probably stop bullying car owners and find friends to spend time with who aren't held to ransom so they can drive their own cars.

The RMS's own rules are not so restrictive.

RMS Website wrote:
If a longer journey is necessary, the operator must notify the club and the details recorded by the club in the official minutes or 'Day Book'.

There is no mention of the requirement for advance "approval" by the Club. The requirement is to notify the Club, not beg for permission.

In my view, if you find your club's rules too restrictive you should find a better club.

You could check a list of clubs affiliated with The Council of Motor Clubs. Try this link -

If you leave the club Morris, you'll ruin PDJ's claim to 100% member satisfaction and retention  .

That list is not exhaustive. This is the complete list for New South Wales:

Well we're (ACTMCC) a lot closer than Sydney ... but we would be far too modest to claim to be "better". :)

About the only downside is that we do not do inspections so require Pink Slips....

Cheers, Ian

How does a club become a part of the historic registration scheme?

Hi Ryan,

..... just fill out the RMS paperwork.

You probably know Wayne B. He has (used to??) his concessional rego through the ACT club. Have a chat with him.

Cheers, Ian

And, speaking of NSW Conditional rego as we were....

Does anyone know if there is more "fine print" than that provided on the RMS website/Conditional Rego that defines the scope and terms used??

For example, what is a "period accessory or option"? Is this term defined anywhere? Or is it a case of innocent until proven guilty?

What is a "short journey" or "servicing"?

Reading the blurb on the wwebsite I don't see anything attractive in the new proposal. Under the current rules, if I adjust the brakes I'm quite legal to go for a quick spin ("short journey") to check their operation (under the "servicing" condition). Similarly, if I want to go for a drive in the country on the w/e, all I have to do is ring the Registrar and have him note it in the Club's "Day Book".

Under the current rules there is no limitation on how many such trips I can do. With the new rules I will have to make an entry in my logbook and will be limited to 60 days use. The same brake check run will eat up a whole weekends worth of use......

As they say, be careful what you wish for.....

Cheers, Ian
