The location of the ID plate.
looks like it sits lower and to the right compared to most other Mk1 S's I have photos of.

The problem with this one is it is stuck on a Mk2 shell.

You can't stick it in the right spot, the captive nut for the Mk2 dash is in the way.

There is too! I saw the plate was in the wrong location.

I am going to go out on a limb, I reckon there is a real possibility this is a genuine 69 Mk2 with no plate. I cannot make out whether it has a Mk1 heal mat.

It seems that a rebirthed/reshelled car is popping up on a weekly basis.

If someone was to ever organise and publish a register of known Cooper S numbers I'm sure all the vacant spots would eventually be filled.

There is a chance it is a genuine 69 mk 2 s and someone has thought that "without an I.D. Plate how are people going to believe me?" Then the brainiac has decided to buy a cooper s plate for it and all is sweet!........... FAIL FAIL FAIL.
I just hope if that is the case, they haven't butchered the stampings at the radiator cowl and the gutter stampings near the washer motor so as to marry up with the bodgee plate.
I have a genuine 69mk2 s and I dread the day I ever try to sell this as it is one of the hardest models to prove its identity. Oh well just have to suffer with it forever now...

Hi GTO green. I see your car is 50 cars earlier making it number 79. I have number 80. Do you know the early history of your car? My 69 was sold new in Bathurst around 5/69. Cheers.

Hi Kath
I don't know much about my car. The previous owner was an older gentleman and was a BMC mechanic.
My car is a late MK1. YKG2S2
Your car is a MK2 isn't it? YG2S4
