A mate of mine has this hillclimb mini. For years it has been 1275 mini powered. Sometime ago it started to smoke a bit and was down on power somewhat. Then someone game him a bomb Hyundai Excel but the motor was good. Out came the tape measure and yes, this may fit in a mini. He cut the front end off the mini, unbolted the Hyundai front end and motor/gearbox, wheeled it over to the mini and welded it in. Then someone gave him another Hyundai, this time a 1500 twin cam so this was fitted instead. The ECU and wiring was retained and sits in a black garbage bag on the passenger floor. Even retained the bigger wheels. Rough as guts but it goes like crap. This was 2 years ago and has not missed a beat, motor is still standard.

This is one mean mother of a car. I know, I have driven it. Takes off from the line in second gear and it pulls all the way to 8000 RPM's around the Maffra Hillclimb Track. Handles superb.

Yep, pretty close to standard wheelbase, a bit wider track though.
