So I have a 1978 mini clubman but have a dry pre 1976 front subframe can I still use this on my clubman or do I have to modify the tower bolts.

The tower bolt is different on dry 1976 onwards than dry pre 1976. Image

Australian Minis never changed to the single tower bolt mount.

Don't believe what you see on the web.
Not in Australia it's not.
All our Clubby subframes were 2 bolt, right to the end.
The Poms went to the single bolt mount setup so they could rubber mount the subframe for crap handling.

How come you see some sub frames with studs instead of bolts?

Most hydro ones had bolts & I think most dry had studs but not all.
